The Korean War: a Forgotten War
With 33,651 total American soldier casualties, and the fate of a whole of people and their culture at stake, how is it that the Korean war has become known as simply a "forgotten war"? The conflict between the North and the South Koreans, each backed by a world superpower, begs many to ask what the true implicit message of this war was.
In hindsight, the war on the peninsula can be seen as a scientific experiment testing the effects of communism and capitalism. Today we are left with the results of this "experiment.” Understanding the two superpowers, the Soviets and the Americans, and their battles fought through the Korean people, gives those who want to look a clear understanding of the two ruling ideologies seen in Korea today. |
